6 Fun Oktoberfests coming up this weekend
Four Peaks Oktoberfest - Tempe, AZ | October 12-14, 2018 Talk about activities! The Four Peaks Oktoberfest at Tempe Town Lake is not just a drinking fest, that's for sure. They have carnival rides (just like the Munich Oktoberfest), 10K Run, 5K run/Walk, 1Mile Run/Walk, Kinderfest with tons of kids activities, soccer tournaments and, of course, lots of good German food, beer and dancing! Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest - Kitchener-Waterloo ON, Canada | October 5-13, 2018 This epic 9 day long festival is the largest Oktoberfest in North America! With events happening all week long and local restaurants also getting involved in the theme, there is no time like the present to go to Canada and enjoy some music, performances by local German dance groups, food and drink! This Oktoberfest in central Florida takes place on gorgeous waterfront grounds and is definitely more of a beer focused festival. There are lots of games like the Stein Hoisting, Keg Stacking, Tug-O-War, Grain Sack Toss, and the most popular... Mr. & Mrs Oktoberfest and the Beard & Mustache Competition held on Saturday. PLEASE NOTE that there are currently strong weather advisories for central, so before you travel check the weather conditions please. CLICK HERE for more info.
Big Bear Lake Oktoberfest - Big Bear Lake, CA | Weekends: September 8th - November 3rd, 2018
My husband grew up in southern California and he said that this was always one of his favorite Oktoberfests! And there are so many opportunities to enjoy it since it takes place every weekend until November. With indoor and outdoor areas, shopping, music & dancing, performances from local German dancers, and plenty of food and drink, kids area and a mechanical bull, there is sure to be fun had by all. Helen Oktoberfest - Helen, GA | September 9th - October 28th, 2018
Helen, Georgia has the "charm of Bavaria in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains" and so it's only fitting that they have a big Oktoberfest (and long running). This adorable town will be hosting their 48th annual Oktoberfest which has plenty of German music, dancing, food & drinks! CLICK HERE for more info.
Leavenworth Oktoberfest - Leanvenworth, WA | October 5 & 6, 12-13, and 19-20, 2018
Another "German" town in the US, this event has a parade and keg tapping every Saturday, multiple bands in multiple venues, German dancers, stein holding contests and much more. There is also a Kinderplatz for the kids and complementary shuttle service to and from the heart of Leavenworth so you don't have to worry about driving! CLICK HERE for more info.
All these Oktoberfest's sound like so much fun, but if they are not in your area and you're itching to wear your dirndl... not to fret! There are a lot of smaller Oktoberfests all over the country. Google up your local German restaurant, maybe a local German club is having and event. OR you can throw your own Oktoberfest!!!!!
