Frequently Asked Dirndl Questions
About the Brand
What is so special about Rare Dirndl?
Rare Dirndls are designed by Erika Neumayer and made in Chicago. They are modern and fashion forward takes on the traditional dirndl style. They are made from unique and quality fabrics and have detailed hand-work that make them truly special. Most dirndls are made in very limited quantities so, they are indeed... Rare!
Plus, since we're a small business our customer service is top notch! We are experts in the dirndl-wearin life, so we're happy to help with any questions you have.
What is a dirndl and how do I wear one?

Can I place a custom dirndls order?
Unfortunately, due to overwhelming demand, we are not accepting custom orders at this time. To get on the waitlist click here.
What lengths are the dirndls?
Rare Dirndls come in 2 lengths: Mini and Medi. Mini dirndls measure approx 20 inches from the waist and Medi approx 26 inches. The Medi length is about mid-calf length unless you are super tall. There is also typically extra seam allowance in the hem, so it could be made longer if necessary. If you have length questions about a specific dirndl give us a call and anyone on the team will be happy to answer your question.
How do I care for my Rare dirndl?
Rare Dirndls are primarily Hand Wash Only and some are Dry Clean Only. We do not suggest putting your Rare Dirndl in the washing machine. Some aprons are machine washable. Most blouses are machine washable. It is strongly suggested that you hang dry the aprons and blouses. Check the tags to see how to care for your items.
Are the blouses and aprons included in the price of the dirndl?
All Rare Dirndls consist of the dirndl and the apron (or belt). The blouse is separate.
Do I have to order the blouse that is pictured with the dirndl?
Some blouses are made specifically to match a certain dirndl and others can be mixed and matched with other dirndls. Double check to see if there is a direct correlation, like the use of the specific print, between the blouse and the dirndl before mixing the styles.
What do I need if I want to order the In Bloom Dirndl?
The skirt portion of the In Bloom Dirndl is unlined, so it is just see-through lace. We recommend wearing a Semi-Circle Skirt or dirndl petticoat underneath it. You'll also need a blouse, the most popular style is the Off-the-Shoulder Blouse. You then have the option of wearing an Apron with your dirndl. If you want one of each of these pieces, you can buy a Color-Pack (1 of each in a size) and save.

In order to find the size that will best fit you, measure yourself at your bust and waist and refer to the Rare Size Chart and choose the size that matches your largest measurement, OR you can click here to watch our video that answers all your sizing questions!

When will my order ship?
In-stock items (everything except Bridal dirndls and specific pre-sale items) are typically packed and shipped within two business days. In peak times of sales, promotions, or product launches, processing times may take up to five business days. If you need your items by a certain date, you may indicate this in the 'notes' section at check out. This will allow us to prioritize your order if needed. For orders labeled as "pre-order" in the product's title, please review the item's description for shipping date.
How long will it take for me to get my order?
This depends on whether it is an International or a Domestic order. All orders within the U.S. are considered domestic orders and they are shipped and delivered within 2-7 business days if standard shipping is selected and 1-3 business days if you have a larger order or purchased a dirndl. Click here to learn more about shipping.
Which shipping carriers do you use?
For our FREE shipping option, we use the United States Postal Service to keep shipping rates down. However if you'd prefer to have your order shipped via UPS, you are welcome to upgrade.
How do I track my order?
We will send tracking information to the e-mail address associated with your order once the item has shipped. Please allow at least 24 hours for the tracking to update. International orders are tracked only for their duration within the US. After the order has left the US, tracking will no longer show it's location.
What are your shipping rates?
We offer FREE shipping in the United States. Otherwise, our website automatically calculates the USPS shipping rate based on the weight and destination and will be stated on the checkout page after shipping address has been added. International shipping can range from $12-$40USD, depending on factors previously mentioned.
I live in Canada. Is there a custom's fee?
Import duties, taxes, and charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to placing your order. We cannot mark your package as a gift, or a lower value... tis the law, sorry.
