I have met many great friends and even my husband through this amazing community. Rare Dirndl Customer Spotlight: Amy Engler

Hi! My name is Amy and I am a German teacher in Minnesota. When my friends started planning my bachelorette party, I knew the perfect way to celebrate would be to dress up in dirndls for our big night out! I think my spotlight is a little more unique than most, because I don’t actually own a Rare dirndl. In the photo, I’m wearing my own Dirndl that I bought in Germany many years ago. I actually remember meeting Erika at the Deutsche Tage a few years back in Saint Paul, Minnesota and being in awe of how beautiful they are.

Owner & Designer of Rare Dirndl, Erika's Chicago Winter Wedding

October 2014, my now husband asked me to marry him and I said "YES!" and on January 16th 2016 we said "I do". We were married at a unique venue in Chicago, but didn't neglect to incorporate our heritage into our big day. Little things like adding rosemary into all the floral arrangements (including a sprig for all the guests), schnitzel and homemade German wurst for appetizers, plenty of polkas and waltzes to dance to, homemade German cookies for dessert, and of course dirndls!

Rare Dirndl Customer Spotlight: The Wagner Girls

Here is a photograph with me, Heidi Wagner, and my 6 month old twins, Helena (pink) and Elsa (green). The girls are wearing their aunt's dirndls from when they were that size. This was our first Christmas and the family was very excited as they are the first grandchildren on my husband's side. My husband is in the Edward Wagner Blaskapelle Brass Band ( http://edwagnerbrassband.com/ ) that plays traditional German and Austrian polka music.

Here we are getting ready, hiking up the mountain to the dinner/drinking schnapps, and enjoying fondue and kirschwasser with a bunch of trachten-clad "mountain chic" friends. Rare Dirndl Customer Spotlight: Karen Geist

I love love love celebrating my German (Donauschwaben) Heritage. I am first generation American and nothing helps me celebrate my heritage better than wearing Dirndln. I have been wearing Dirndln my entire life but I love my Rare Dirndln because of how modern they are while still having a traditional feel. I now have 4 Rare Dirndln, some extra blouses, an extra apron, and accessories (including a winter hat and Edelweiss wrap bracelets).

How She Wore It: Katherine's Chicago Blackhawks Dirndl

Katherine wore her custom made Chicago Blackhawks Dirndl to show her support for her favorite Chicago Sports team, the Blackhawks!! In honor of their big Stanley Cup win in 2010, over 20 Chicago girls got custom dirndls with their favorite players name on the back and in 2013 and now again this year, they get to wear them all the time to show off their team spirit and their German heritage by wearing their Rare Dirndls!
