Day 8: Marketing Monday (with some outfit changes)

Day 8: Marketing Monday (with some outfit changes)

Monday is the day of the week when I work on marketing, which means a decent amount of sitting on the computer. I chose the Guten Morgen dirndl with the Sparkle Organza Blouse for day 9 because it was finally bright and sunny outside... however it was not comfortable because I was still so stuffed from all the food I ate at the birthday party the day before. It was simply too tight, and I was getting cranky.

Day 7: Fun with Family

Day 7: Fun with Family

Yesterday was my cousin's son, Erik's 10th birthday, so we all went over to his house to celebrate. We had roast lamb, fresh home-grown hydroponic lettuce and pasta. For day 7, I went with the Day Break Dirndl, Sweetheart Blouse with Draped Sleeves in black, black tights and a sweater. I chose this dirndl because I thought it was springy but also could pass as a party dress. With a black blouse I don't think it looks super dirndl-y.

Day 6: Work Work, House Work, & Bluegrass Bands

Day 6: Work Work, House Work, & Bluegrass Bands

For day 6 of my 14-Day Dirndl Every Day Challenge, I wore my Star Wars Dirndl because I wanted to wear fleece lined leggings again and I knew that dirndl would match my navy blue ones. I wore it with the Sweetheart Blouse with Draped Sleeves, my Hirsch Antler Necklace, a necklace from my mom that says, "love you", and my batchies. I started the day like I do most mornings, by drinking my lemon water while I do the dishes and then have my coffee and get to work.

Day 5: Unexpected Day off with the Hubby

Day 5: Unexpected Day off with the Hubby

Friday's have always been a strange day for me as an entrepreneur. This feeling that the week is over and I got nothing done always seems to creep up and grab me by the throat. A feeling of anxiety and overwhelm tends to set in on Fridays... but not yesterday!

Day 4: Cleaning During the Day, Wine Time at Night

Day 4: Cleaning During the Day, Wine Time at Night

Yesterday was the Lincoln Square Spring Wine Stroll. It's a really fun event where people can buy tickets, check in, get a wine glass and a map... and stroll through the streets of Lincoln Square, stopping at local businesses and tasting wine! In order to prepare for the event... we needed to clean up with studio! Sam and I have been working our asses off trying to get all these One-of-a-Kind Dirndls out on time, so needless to say sweeping, dusting and keeping tidy was not on the to do list... until yesterday!

Day 3: Adventures in the Grocery Store

Day 3: Adventures in the Grocery Store

The weather is still very chilly here in Chi, so I choose my outfit for Day 3 with my black fleece-lined leggings in mind. I decided to go with the "Smells Like Teen Spirit Dirndl" with the leggings, distressed sweater, Sweetheart Blouse with Draped Sleeves and motorcycle boots.

Day 2: Just a Tuesday

Day 2: Just a Tuesday

Yesterday was just a regular ol' Tuesday... nothing too special. I decided to go with the Huntress dirndl. I wore it with the Scoop Neck Blouse, grey socks, my batchies, and a grey sweater.

Dirndl Challenge - Day 1: Let's Go Hawks

Dirndl Challenge - Day 1: Let's Go Hawks

Yesterday I decided to wear my Blackhawks "Away" Dirndl to show my support for our beloved Chicago Blackhawks as they faced the St. Louis Blues in game 7 of the Stanley Cup playoffs. I wore it with a long sleeve black t-shirt, black leggings and motorcycle boots (during the day I wore my batches). Unfortunately it didn't help because they lost and now the season is over for us... sad face 😔

My 14-Day Challenge... and it's not a juice cleanse!

My 14-Day Challenge... and it's not a juice cleanse!

Today marks day 1 of my 14 Day Dirndl Challenge! I have thought about doing it for a while and procrastinated the hell out of it. Why? Lame excuses I suppose... but I guess it all comes down to fear. Not fear of running out of dirndls to wear haha! Fear about what people will think? Fear that I might not like it? I dunno, but anyway, I'm not one to let a little personal fear get in my way, so here we go!

True Facts about Lederhosen

  • Lederhosen literally translates to Leather Pants in German
  • Using fur or animal hide for pants goes way way way back to Otzi the Iceman, the 5,300-year-old frozen mummy who was found near the Alpine Austro-Italian border in 1991.

5 Easy Ways to Use Your German Restaurant Leftovers

German-American restaurants are notorious for giving out huge portions and sometimes it's simply too much. Now... German food is also notorious for not tasting especially good the next day unless it's something stewy like goulash or paprikash. So with a little help from my friends, I've put together a list of 5 ways you can use your leftovers from the German restaurant to create something super tasty!

Why do German Wines Have a Bad Rap?

Why do German Wines Have a Bad Rap?

When most people hear German wine, the first thing that comes to mind is a Riesling. The second thing that comes to mind is "meh... let's try something else." Why do German wines have such a bad rap? I've asked myself this many times and I think it's because historically Germans have produced primarily sweet wines which are not to many people's liking.
